The Blorenge Mountain Abergavenny

BLORENGE BOOKS which was established in 1985 is run by Chris and Anne Marie Barber from their home which is situated below the Blorenge Mountain at Llanfoist, near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, South East Wales. Our books mainly relate to Wales, and are of special interest to those who enjoy walking, local history, myths and legends, armchair travelling and poetry. They are all beautifully produced and well illustrated.

As well as selling our books through the main distributors such as Gardners and The Welsh Books council, we also provide a personal service to our customers by posting our books through the Royal Mail at a small charge to cover postage costs. We pride ourselves in being completely in control of everything to do with Blorenge Books, which is quite a rare thing nowadays with all the huge organisations which exist.

Chris Barber MBE FRGS has written a total of 31 books which cover: prehistoric standing stones, industrial archaeology, hill walking, history, and the myths and legends of Wales. His many interests and achievements have been recognised with an entry in ‘Who’s Who in the World’ and he is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In 2008 he was awarded the MBE for ‘Service to the Community and Tourism’.

Chris is also a well respected and popular lecturer; he mainly works in the local area within a thirty mile radius, however under certain circumstances he may be willing to travel further. All of his lectures are richly illustrated with high quality images. He is currently writing a monthly article in the Abergavenny Chronicle which describes a journey from source to mouth of the river Usk; this has been very well received by all the readers of the Chronicle.

Chris is the Literary Agent responsible for the rights of the works of the international best seller Alexander Cordell. Blorenge books at present publishes Rape of the Fair Country, and Hodder and Stoughton now publish the novels: Hosts of Rebecca, Song of the Earth, and This Proud and Savage Land. They also publish all thirty of his novels in Ebook format.

Anne Marie Barber has become a Partner in Blorenge Books after working alongside Chris for the past seven years; she has written two poetry books in that time: Collected Poems and Collected Poems Volume Two. Her books have been printed and bound using high quality paper and binding. She has brought to Blorenge Books her business acumen from running a successful business in the past, which has helped the company to evolve with the times, which is essential for its success.
